Taylor Community Schools, KOKOMO, IN
EMCOR Construction Services brought a plan to develop needed scopes of work to generate savings for the $7.9 million project. ECS worked with the school's bond counsel ensuring that the project met all State guidelines for Guaranteed Energy Savings projects, was broken into four separate stand alone projects, and was scheduled accordingly throughout the year to perform the work around occupied and unoccupied periods of the school year.
Taylor Community School Corporation needed infrastructure improvements in soe of its learning environments as well as on its football field. Older, dated equipment had passed its useful life and was running inefficiently with significant energy and repair costs that the school was incurring.
The football field's grass field was being worn as several teams and the band was using the surface for many different events costing needed funds for upkeep, maintenance, and continuous watering.
One of the building's roofs was leaking water and needed attention.
A new synthetic turf field was installed allowing all teams and band members to use the turf surface regardless of the weather. Savings were generated since the new field required very little maintenance and no watering. ECS installed other energy conservation measures allowing the school to recognize needed savings from the reduction of utility consumption and operational savings generated through a reduced amount of outside repairs, materials, and maintenance costs.
An improved roofing project resolved many areas of the building that had previously leaked during heavy rains.
ECS also provided for a much improved learning environment by controlling space temperatures, humidity, CO2, lighting, and noise levels.
